Tea ware for Taiwan Oolong

PERSONAL TASTING:
' Enjoy your tea, your own way. '

Yet, freedom is not free...
Sense. Savor. Smile.

Make sense is important.

Tea ware for Taiwan Oolong.
Based on the oxidation levels of Taiwan Oolong,
there are certain criteria on tea ware will make the
Oolong tastes difference. ( *material and style of
tea ware might decide whether to bring out the best
of each different Oolong...)

A) for Pouchong Pure/ Mountain Jade -

B) for Classic Tung-Ting/ Amber Beauty

C)for Oriental Beauty/ Cognac Oolong/ Formosa Bonita

《Tea & Tea-cher》Happy Tea-cher's Day !

《Tea & Tea-cher》

9.28 is Teacher’s Day in Taiwan.
Happy Teacher’s Day to all!

It is Tea-cher’s Day, too.
(*what do we learn from tea?)

I would surely like to share the following message from my friend and tea-cher, Scott Chen.

Scott is right.
Over a while… you will eventually find that tea has taught us a lot more than we thought that we have learned from tea.

During the Pandemic Crisis, tea teaches me more on my living practice in life also in tea business.

Less desire,
life becomes light

Slower in pace,
calmer in mind

Easy go,
free up more

Simpler in style,
friendly to unite

Fewer thoughts,
brighter vision

How to reach out over a cup of tea ? ( Taiwan Oolong Tasting in DC on 5.31.2019)

Josephine and I are invited by Taiwanese Hakka Culture Foundation of America (THCFA) to give a talk at DC Taiwanese Culture Center.  We are sharing the update of Taiwan tea industry, and also to have fun on 3 Taiwan Oolongs tasting: Alishan Jade (the Milk Oolong), ShanLinSi Gold (Amber Tsui Yu), and Sun Moon Lake Ruby (Formosa Bonita: Ruby 18).

We have many interesting stories to cheer up our audience as well as the fine teas.  Our message is simple:  To reach out with Taiwan tea and story, and to make more friends for Taiwan !

Over a cup of Oolong tea...
How we can help promote Taiwan over a cup of tea...

JT & Tea 2017 Holiday Taiwan Oolong Tasting (12/9/2017)

(12/9/2017) Saturday afternoon, JT & Tea hosts our Holiday Taiwan Oolong Tasting in our cupping room...
Filled with tea love and passion to taste 6 different Taiwan Oolongs from 6 farmers and factories:
Alishan Milk Oolong from Wang Ting,
Lishan Jade Oolong from HGT,
Classic Tung Ting from Lienshan Tea,
Amber Oolong (Buddha's Palm) baked by SKT,
Taitung Oolong from Lin Wang,
FB-78 from FuYuan Tea.

Our tasting starts from the natural FACTs of each tea, and relay them to the Theory in Processing, and Tasting with 4S: to See, to Sniff, to Sip, and to Sense.

Furthermore, we discuss about the Geographical Terroir, Cultivar Selection, and Craftsmanship that complete each good Oolong.

Many beautiful and romantic stories to be shared about each tea's encounter and development... I love Taiwan Tea! BUT, the message we are trying to bring to our tea society:
after 10 years of TOST program, and WTE stage promotion, finally Taiwan Oolong is ready to marching to the next landmark:
Grown and Made in Taiwan:
Food Safety, Ecology, and Technology.

Thanks to all participants, and we look forward to seeing more tea friends who will join our next Tasting event!

JT & Tea's cupping studio is having a super busy day!

We have three groups of visitors. Tea time, one after another!

I) In the morning, a few friends here to pick the teas for Holidays Giftea Project.  Ends up we are working out on selecting one Jade Oolong and one Formosa Bonita.

II) After lunch, three tea friends are here to discuss tea business and designing tea educational program for the 2017.  Mr. James Norwood Pratt, a renowned tea master and popular author of tea books., Mr. Sanjay Guha, a famous Darjeeling tea specialist also successful tea business strategist, and they are accompanied by Mr. Dhavin Shah, the CFOO of International Tea Importers (ITI).

Followed by the discussion...we then have two rounds of tea fun:
First round: to cup 7 Beauties of Taiwan Oolong.

(*Sensei Pratt generously shares his comments on these 7 Beauties...)

(7 Beauties show various appearances, colors, aroma, flavors and finishes...
Bhavin and Sanjay are checking the aroma, also recording the beautiful dancing leaves... )

(After the cupping, we have another round of tasting three teas
Taiwan Tea Institute has recently developed...
We believe in Affordable/Available Quality Oolongs
from Eco-farming gardens will be here to stay.)

III) Ms. Jeni Dodd, the one and only Dodd that I know besides Mr. John Dodd, shows up after our office hour.  She is visiting from Manhattan and helps out at the Los Angeles Tea Festival.  We do have some good study on the teas that I brought back from my recent Taiwan trip, and sip my signature baked Buddha's Palm while having some catch up.  When JD meets with JP, there are always non-stop laughter.

CommuniTea of 813 Lantia

I will be in Taiwan to scout for our 2016 TOST (*oh yes, Josephine and I always want to add some 'exciting' to our schedule...), and meet with talented entrepreneurs of a few interesting new tea rooms, tea stores and tea bars in Taiwan... Something new is steeping there and some ideas are cooking... It usually takes about 20 years, that we regard as one generation, after the Boba tea (or bubble tea) boomed out of Taiwan, I am 'smelling' and sensing a new trend will soon be setting. This time, it will be for real Oolong taste, and will be 'Ready to Serve' (*sorry, not RTD)... It is about Serving, and it is what our Specialty Tea industry has been waiting for.
During this home returning trip - I will be back to Tai3Route, where used to be Taiwan's most important Tao-Chu-Miao tea district, and I will give a talk and tea tasting at a gorgeous place, www.Lantia1918.com, on 8/13 (Saturday) for an event that organized by TEATALK ACADEMY....

This will be the first of many more JT & Tea's CommuniTea events in Taiwan.  We will have a Tea-One Horizontal Tasting workshop that talk and taste about 7 Taiwan Oolongs, also well recognized as "7 Beauties".  Much obliged to our Event Organizer: Teatalk Academy and Venue Host: www.Lantia1918.com

Oolong Tea Competition in Taiwan

This is a very typical wall that filled up with all sorts of awards from many many tea contests.  It could be popularly seen in farmers' places while visiting every Taiwan's tea district.

Do you know the first tea contest in Taiwan actually started by Lugu Farmers' Association back in 1976?  History has it!   (*Nowadays, there are more than 4000 various contests in different levels, styles, and tea varieties every year. )

If you want to learn more about Taiwan Oolong, do visit this recently renovated 'Tea Culture Museum in Lugu' and enjoy the best Classic Tung-Ting at its origin.

On 10/26/2015, we were there with our 2015 TOST friends.  Our hearty appreciation to Director Lin's hospitality.
