JT & Tea 2017 Holiday Taiwan Oolong Tasting (12/9/2017)

(12/9/2017) Saturday afternoon, JT & Tea hosts our Holiday Taiwan Oolong Tasting in our cupping room...
Filled with tea love and passion to taste 6 different Taiwan Oolongs from 6 farmers and factories:
Alishan Milk Oolong from Wang Ting,
Lishan Jade Oolong from HGT,
Classic Tung Ting from Lienshan Tea,
Amber Oolong (Buddha's Palm) baked by SKT,
Taitung Oolong from Lin Wang,
FB-78 from FuYuan Tea.

Our tasting starts from the natural FACTs of each tea, and relay them to the Theory in Processing, and Tasting with 4S: to See, to Sniff, to Sip, and to Sense.

Furthermore, we discuss about the Geographical Terroir, Cultivar Selection, and Craftsmanship that complete each good Oolong.

Many beautiful and romantic stories to be shared about each tea's encounter and development... I love Taiwan Tea! BUT, the message we are trying to bring to our tea society:
after 10 years of TOST program, and WTE stage promotion, finally Taiwan Oolong is ready to marching to the next landmark:
Grown and Made in Taiwan:
Food Safety, Ecology, and Technology.

Oolong Outpost @ TUF Art Exhibition on 4/1/2017

TUF has an Art Exhibition, "The Beauty of Taiwan, Heart of Asia" featuring Taiwanese artists' oil paintings and water color paintings on 4/1-2/2017 at Los Angeles Taiwan Culture Center in City of El Monte.

JT & Tea is invited to offer Taiwan tea serving and Oolong Tasting on the Opening Ceremony and during the Art Talk by Master Lin on 4/1/2017.  Josephine and I have prepared 'Guava Leaves Tea' in air-pot for self-serving.  We thought of throwing this Taiwan tradition to go with this culture event. Guava Leaves Tea, also nicked as Bac-Gon-Cha in Taiwan Hakka, as it is popularly seen in the country-sides. A big pot of tea, under a big tree...always filled and free for travelers to self-serve.  I like this tradition, so friendly and considerate.

Besides the self-serving Bac-Gon-Cha, we also set up a tasting square for Oolong Outpost activity.  Josephine, Jerry, Peter and two beautiful Liao sisters are having fun with our guests who visit this art exhibition. Oriental Beauty and Rose Oolong the two teas we offer for tasting are extremely popular!
Glad that our artists, especially Master Lin and his wife love the teas and the idea to have us there!

Taiwan tea @ TUF 2012 Culture Night

Taiwan Tea is featured in 2012 TUF Culture Night !

On September 15, 2012 at the Pacific Palms Resort in Industry City, California, TUF is having its Culture Night - the theme for this year's event is "Made in Taiwan - Food Safety, Ecology and Technology" and the keynote speaker is Mr. Luis Ko of Taiwan I-Mei Foods.  We thought this will be a great opportunity for Taiwan tea and tea culture to be included in the program.  In those Center Gift Baskets that set on each table for lucky guests to take home, we have prepared the TUF logo ware with Taiwan tea contained...also we make sure the banquet will serve our Taiwan Jade Oolong through out the night.  There is an exhibition during 4:30 to 6PM at the Hotel lobby - we also have a Taiwan Tea booth to display 6 specialty Taiwan Oolongs for the guests to enjoy...plus every half an hour, we offer different teas for samplings.  It is indeed a very fruity event.
We are grateful to those students volunteers from PCC - TASA  and also Karen Shu from Azusa Tea Club has done a classy design for such a short time exhibition.
We have great honor that Mr. Luis Ko did visit ABC TEA during his L.A. trip... Thanks to TUF for bringing a marvelous culture night to our community.  We know the fermentation of this Culture Night will remain.

Culture Exhibition @ Museum X, Pomona, CA (5/30/2009)

It is a great honor to particpate the opening ceremony for the Overseas Culture Exhibition at Musium X in city of Pomona, California. This is a touring exhibition of fine arts and crafts by many artists who are from Taiwan, Japan, Canada and United States. The person in charge, Mrs. Sheow-Hwey Chang is a member of our First Taiwan Oolong Study Tour, and who invited us to have a tea tasting class at St. Louis back on April 2008. We admired her hard efforts to make this exhibition indeed so successful. When she called Josephine about having Taiwan Oolongs Tasting during the opening ceremony...we simply can't say NO. We are glad TUF and Hakka Elite Foundation are both key sponsors for this event. Most of all, the owner of Museum X, Mr. and Mrs. Echo Lew, are very generous to offer the brand new facility for this event. Echo himself is a famous artist and we are so glad to see his passion and generous idea to bring this new attraction for our coomunity! On the great afternoon of 5/30/2009, we have seen so many friends there at the Opening Celebration, including the Mayor of Pomona and severa mayors from neighboring cities.

Concert at Broad Stage (5/21/2009)

Taiwanese United Fund has sponsored a performance by the renowned Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra on 5/21/2009 at the brand new concert hall, The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage, Santa Monica, California. The evening is featuring composer Gordon Chin's Romance for Cello and Orchestra. Mr. Heiichiro Ohyama is the conductor and Mr. Felix Fan is the cellist. 2009 Asian & Pacific Islander American Heritage Month

We were invited to participate the Los Angeles City's 2009 APIAHM opening ceremony on 4/24/2009 at the L.A. City Hall.
To serve fine Taiwan teas during the Opening Ceremony become a tradition now. It is our honor to be part of "Asian and Pacific Island American Heritage Month Celebration". Our volunteers deserve big hands for their hard working to make good tea to serve to a large crowd in 4 hours event!

Enjoy a Taiwanese film - Cape No. 7

I admit that I don't know movie, but I enjoy watching good movies. To me, a good movie just like a good tea. You have to blend in many different ingredients with various elements and efforts to have a harmonized presentation. Is this tea good? Only the one who drinks it can really tell. Apparently, "Cape No. 7" is a fantastic Taiwanese movie that many Taiwanese enjoy it so much and I am definitely not alone.

The 1st Los Angeles Taiwanese Film Festival was successfully taken placed on December 12-14, 2008 at James Bridges Theatre, UCLA. I was invited to offer Taiwan teas at the reception party for the Opening Ceremony. Due to this help out, I got the chance unexpectedly to have close interaction with Director Wei of the hottest movie from Taiwan, Cape No.7.

Director D.S. Wei is such a humble and descent young man. Very hard for me to believe that he is the one who breaks so many records in Taiwan's movie industry. Most unbelievably, he told us that including himself, this film is consisting of a bunch of people's efforts, who were all at their careers' low point while this movie was shooting. No one expects this movie will be such a big hit drawing all kinds of attention, received good echoes from the diversed groups of audience who bought tickets, not only once, not only for ownself...many audience admit they haven't entered movie theatres for a long long time. Director Wei quietly says: hoping this movie won't use up all his luck.

One can easily google "Cape No. 7 " for so much great comments from the news and many blogs...in case you've seen it yet...
This is a movie about the unwavering pursuits for music, dream and love. It not only moves us with its passion and also lures us by its lavish presentation of South Taiwan's breathtaking scenery through its top-notch cinematography.
Why this movie can touch so many Taiwanese hearts?
Just like Director Wei said at the Q&A session after the movie:
He believes that every audience might find the shadow of oneself from the film.

We have studied the event and decided to serve the following three different Taiwan teas on the evening of 12/12/2008 at the Opening Ceremony:
Jade Oolong Classic -
A high mountain grown Chin-Sin Oolong from Alishan. Very soothing with luscious aroma and lingering sweet finish...
Earl Grey XO -
"XO" draws good attention from guests...alcohol in this tea? most guests ask the same question.
Well, for the wine, XO means extra old., this Earl Grey XO is Excellent Oolong that scented with Earl Grey flavoring... What a nice treat for our American friends!
Herbal Guava -
I was told that many guests might be afraid of caffeine, especially during the evening.
We then decided to have this most popular Herbal drink in Taiwan's history. It was often served under the big tree to greet the people who travel by on the country paths...the story fits so well for this occasion.

These 3 teas were freshly brewed in tea-one brewers and served in 3 air-pots that been refilling whole evening long. Our volunteer Rebecca Wang did a marvelous job. Again, Josephine did a nice display and elegant signs for each tea...I am glad to say, "Mission Accomplished".
